Developer in Test, Technical Lead (Romania: remote)

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

Developer in Test, Technical Lead (Romania:remote) About Genesis Digital Genesis Digital is the powerhouse behind the ultimate marketing and sales automation platform, empowering a wide range of users – from individual entrepreneurs and creators to global businesses – to streamline their operations and achieve remarkable growth. We are passionate about innovation, building robust and scalable solutions, and fostering a collaborative environment where talented individuals can thrive. Join our dynamic team and help shape the future of sales and marketing technology! Role Overview We are looking for a Developer in Test, Technical Lead (Romania: remote) to own the end-to-end quality architecture of our platform. This is a principal-level individual contributor role with organization-wide influence: you will design the overarching test infrastructure, establish quality governance frameworks, and set the technical standards that all engineering teams build on. You will operate at the intersection of software architecture and quality engineering — shaping how testability is built into the platform from the ground up, driving strategic decisions on tooling and frameworks, and acting as the highest technical authority on everything related to quality assurance and test automation across the organization. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable automated test frameworks covering UI, API/services, database, integration, end-to-end, performance, security, and reliability testing. Write and review clean, maintainable, well-documented test code using JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, Python, or other relevant technologies. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions to provide fast and reliable quality feedback. Define test strategies, test plans, release quality gates, coverage thresholds, and non-functional quality requirements. Serve as the principal technical authority for test automation, quality strategy, engineering reliability, and platform testability. Partner with Platform Architects, Development Managers, Product leaders, developers, and designers to align quality architecture with product and business strategy. Lead architectural and technical reviews, providing guidance on testability, reliability, performance, security, and long-term maintainability. Identify systemic quality risks across the platform and drive proactive mitigation strategies. Analyze test results, document defects, track quality trends, and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure timely resolution. Perform exploratory testing to uncover critical issues not easily detected through automation. Champion quality engineering best practices across the organization. Mentor QA engineers, SDETs, and developers on automation design, testing techniques, CI/CD quality practices, and scalable test architecture. Evaluate and recommend testing tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve automation efficiency, coverage, and reliability. Own and lead testing efforts for major features, epics, releases, and platform-level initiatives. Required Qualifications & Skills: 7+ years of experience in SDET, QA Engineering, or software development roles, with at least 2 years in a technical lead or principal-level position. Proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale test automation architectures across complex, distributed systems. Strong programming skills in at least one major language (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, Python). Extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks and suites for both UI (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium) and API (e.g., REST Assured, Postman, Pytest) testing. Solid understanding and practical experience testing various layers of a full-stack application (UI, API/Services, Database). Experience with CI/CD tools and integrating automated tests into deployment pipelines. Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git. Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes (Agile/Scrum environment preferred). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Demonstrated leadership potential or prior experience mentoring team members or leading testing initiatives. Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Experience testing microservices architectures. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, OCI). Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., PHPBench, JMeter, k6, LoadRunner). Knowledge of security testing principles and tools. Experience testing marketing automation, CRM, or sales platforms. Understanding of basic Machine Learning (ML) concepts. Experience working with third-party AI/ML APIs or services. Compensation: Our salary ranges are benchmarked against similar technical roles in our industry. Final compensation is determined based on experience, technical depth, skillset, and internal equity, as part of a broader total compensation package and growth opportunities at GD.
