[Remote] Director of DevOps and Platform Engineering

Madison-Davis, LLC is a growing technology organization seeking a Director of Platform Architecture & Engineering to lead the evolution of large-scale infrastructure and engineering operations. This role involves defining technology strategy, modernizing platform capabilities, and driving operational excellence across architecture, platform engineering, and DevOps functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture, platform engineering, and DevOps teams in designing scalable and high-performing technology solutions
- Define and execute long-term platform, infrastructure, and data architecture strategies
- Improve large-scale data processing, integration, reporting, and application delivery capabilities
- Drive adoption of modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation
- Design solutions that support growing transaction volumes, increasing data complexity, and evolving business needs
- Partner with executive leadership to align technology investments with organizational objectives
- Improve observability, monitoring, reliability, resiliency, and operational efficiency
- Support modernization initiatives across legacy and next-generation platforms
- Establish engineering standards, governance frameworks, and operational best practices
- Mentor engineering leaders and technical teams while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve scalability and efficiency
Skills
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, architecture, or related technology disciplines
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams and large-scale initiatives
- Experience supporting high-volume, data-intensive technology environments
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and high-throughput platforms
- Expertise in DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and modern engineering practices
- Experience designing scalable data pipelines, APIs, and integration architectures
- Strong knowledge of databases, data processing platforms, and real-time data technologies
- Ability to operate strategically while maintaining technical credibility and hands-on influence
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience driving modernization, transformation, and operational excellence initiatives
- Experience with private cloud, hybrid cloud, or multi-cloud environments
- Familiarity with modern streaming, messaging, or event-driven architectures
- Exposure to AI-enabled development tools, engineering automation, or developer productivity platforms
- Experience modernizing legacy systems and transforming reactive operating models
- Experience leading platform engineering organizations within high-growth environments
