Tableau Data Engineer

Position: Tableau Data Engineer Location: 100% Costa Rica/Mexico Duration: Longterm Contract Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build robust, scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines to support analytics and reporting needs.
• Prepare, clean, and transform data from multiple sources into consumable datasets for Tableau dashboards.
• Develop and optimize data models (Star/Snowflake schema) that enable efficient self-service analytics.
• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards and reports for various business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and BI teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency through data validation and quality checks.
• Optimize Tableau workbooks and SQL queries for performance.
• Manage Tableau Server/Cloud environments, including user access, data source management, and performance tuning.
• Stay current with Tableau product updates and modern data engineering tools and practices.

Required Skills:

• 4+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or related fields.
• Expert-level proficiency with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Tableau Cloud.
• Strong SQL skills (preferably with Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or SQL Server).
• Experience with data transformation tools (e.g., dbt, Informatica, Alteryx, or SSIS).
• Proficient in data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of data warehouse concepts and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Ability to write efficient, well-documented, and reusable code for data ingestion and transformation.
• Familiarity with Python or R for data manipulation and automation is a plus.
• Experience with version control tools like Git.
